JJ Cole Swag Diaper Bag

I absolutely love this diaper bag! I searched high and low before finding this bag. Everywhere from Target and Walmart, to Neiman Marcus and still couldnt find quite what I wanted... then I found this JJ Cole Swag Bag! I have the Bronze Drop and absolutely love the style and colors. Its so chic and pretty! I really needed my bag to have pockets, a strap that can either be worn over the shoulder or not, and be big enough to hold everything i want to take with me. This bag definitely fits the bill! Strap is super soft and wide enough that it distributes weight nicely (and is adjustable for length) I love the pockets, inside and out. Big pockets and little pockets alike. One of my favorite features is the diaper pocket on the back of the bag. It has a changing pad that is really pretty and slightly padded, and cleans easily. it also re-folds extremely easily -unlike some that are akin to a paper map :) That pocket also holds about 8-10 size2 diapers and a travel sized powder. I keep everything else in the main pocket (wipes, blanket etc) The stroller straps are nice too, although it came with gray straps and i got the brown/bronze bag..oh well. I actually often find it easier to just use the strap to hang the bag (i have the graco travel system) I have received many compliments on the bag people often think its my purse! by the way, it also comes with a little wristlet that matches the bag, that is perfect if you dont want to take your purse on some trips!

I love this diaper bag, it doesn't even look like a diaper bag. I never liked the kiddie looking bags that I see everywhere. I wanted a bag that looks like its mine and this is it!! I am also a cloth diapering momma and this bag holds 4 cloth diapers, wipes, my wet bag (for when a dipe has been used) and 2 outfits. I also put things in the pockets. a bib, a spoon, some band aides, my wallet. This is my favorite bag to date!!!!

This is by far the greatest purchase I made for baby. I get at least two compliments every single time I am out and about with it. I absolutely love this diaper bag. I am a huge fan of pockets with any bag I carry-but I find it especially important with a diaper bag for staying organized. There are 2 larger outside pockets, then 2 smaller zippered pockets on the outside of those. Since they are small that is where I keep pacifiers, nail clippers, chapstick/lipstick, and extra cash. The bigger outside pockets are open on top so don't put anything in there that when you bend over you would want to fall out and lose. I love the convenience of the insulated bottle pockets being on the outside. 8oz bottles fit easily as well as every sippy cup that we own. I like that the changing pad zips up flatly against the back of the bag.

There are 4 nice-sized pockets on the inside walls, 2 on each side. This is where I keep a package of wipes, diapers (5 fit easily in one pocket), spoons, wallet, phone, Tylenol, extra socks, gum, etc. The main pocket is big enough to hold an extra outfit or 2, spit rags, nursing cover, a blanket (not a really fluffy one), toys, a couple of containers of snacks or formula, etc. I have had this bag since I had a newborn and it was great then. It fit just enough stuff. Now that I have an 18 mo old I don't need all the space but it's nice to have when we need it. I'm not sure it would be big enough with 2 kiddos if you are a heavy packer though.

I also love that it zippers closed because my toddler can't unzip it just yet. Lifesaver right now.

This bag is no doubt super cute. I got the bronze color and love it, BUT I am 5'6'' tall and 120 lbs pre-pregnancy, and the only way I can wear it cross-body is on the very last loop. Its still a little short on that setting, so if you're taller than this and want to wear it across yourself, I'd find another bag. I also think its too small and for this reason, I unfortunately will need to return. Its my 2nd baby and 2nd diaper bag. I love the look & style, but at the end of the day I am too practical to settle for this bag because I just know its not going to accommodate my new baby's things along with some of my older one's items. Wish it were bigger & longer then it'd be perfect!

Playtex Diaper Genie Refill 270 count (pack of 3)

There are hundreds of reviewers who rightly complain about the price of these refills. I'm quick to join them. However, the Daiper Genie just flat-out works too well to retire so here's what we do to save money.

When the Genie gets full, I pull the bag out and use scissors to cut the bottom knot off and let all the dirty diapers fall into a trash bag or grocery bag, which I then tie up and toss in the outside garbage. I then simply retie the Genie Refill bag and use it again. It doubles (or triples) the life of the refills.

These refills are ok. The system works pretty well at reducing odors...but I just can't cope with the idea of continuing to spend $7-11+ for four bags (which is what we get from each one of these refills).

I decided to try buying kitchen-size trash bags with an odor-block feature. I put the kitchen bag down through the chute and tuck the top around the top of the area that you open to install an official refill. Then when the whole thing is full, instead of tearing the bag and knotting it to start a new one, I just take the old bag out and put a new bag in. Turns out it works fine. When the diaper genie is full it is the equivalent of 1/2 a kitchen trash bag! Since I bought the kitchen bags specifically for the diaper genie, I don't feel like I need to fill the other half of the bag to get my money's worth or something...but, just saying, each of the official refills basically holds less than two kitchen trash bags worth of diapers. For $7-11+.

So, with the official refill you're spending $1.75-2.75 per bag, and you have to do the awkward cut and tie with a full bag of diapers, but it looks a little prettier because no portion of the bag is exposed outside the system.

With Hefty 45 Count 13 Gallon Cinch Sak® Tall Kitchen Bags E86755 you're spending .17 per bag, and it is less awkward, but it is not as pretty because top of the bag shows outside the system.

I guess it just depends on what is important to you, but we'd much rather have the top of the bag show and get 10 times as many bags for the same price. This also means that we don't have to remember to buy bags often at all. We just bought a box of 45 bags and it's lasting quite a while.

I still feel like these things are very overpriced for what amounts to a long tube of plastic bag, but there really is no other choice if you want to continue using a diaper genie. I tried the trick that others mentioned of using a standard garbage bag wrapped around an empty diaper genie dispenser, and that worked, but it filled up pretty fast and the garbage bag did absolutely nothing to control odors so we ended up with a very stinky nursery. So, now we are back to the Playtex brand refills and paying what feels like too much for them.

They do the job, but are a little costly. Better to buy in multiple packs instead of individually becuase it saves you money.

It's no coincidence that these have a giant hole in the middle, since at the end of the day that's what they are a giant hole to stuff your money into. They run out very quickly, the plastic is super thin and tears easily, and they do absolutely NOTHING to control the odor.

Here's a better solution, for those of you looking:

I bought the "Odor Grabber" (http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Trend-Grabber-Refill-White/dp/B004FEP0GQ/ref=pd_cp_ba_0) from Walmart and then used the included adapter ring to use regular garbage bags. Not only do regular bags not fill up as quickly, but having a built in drawstring on the bags was a HUGE bonus no more struggling to tie off the refills.

Luvs Premium Stretch Diapers with Ultra Leakguards

Luvs are the cheapest diapers I have found thus far, and I have researched prices quite a bit. It is very important to me to save as much money as I can on diapers because they are a constant expense. We thought we were getting the cheapest diapers by purchasing the store brand (Kirkland Signature Supreme Baby Diapers (Size 3, Quantity 208)) at Costco. However, Amazon beats all store brands in price as long as you take advantage of Subscribe & Save. (We still use the Costco brand wipes, which are fantastic and economical: Kirkland Premium Baby Wipes 900 Count)

Not only are Luvs the least expensive diapers I have come across, they are great quality. The thing I like about them the most is that they are very thin, especially when compared to the Kirkland diapers. They allow my baby to move freely and he does not feel so bulky. The stretchy sides are also well-constructed; they provide enough give while still having a snug fit. We have never had a leak in Luvs diapers, and we have gone through two 200+ boxes of them by now. My baby sleeps 12+ hours overnight and we have never had an accident.

One feature of Luvs worth noting; they have a powder-like scent. When I first got them I was hesitant about the smell, but I quickly got used to it. The scent is strongest when you first open the plastic package of diapers. It will dissipate a bit if you remove them from the plastic packaging and let them air out in a diaper stacker or in your changing table.

Luvs are fantastic because you can get an inexpensive diaper without sacrificing quality.

I have tried pretty much every diaper under the sun, to include; Pamper's baby dry, swaddlers & cruisers, Huggies snug n dry & supreme, Target brand, and white cloud. I have found that Luvs are my favorite. I really liked the cruisers, but for some reason they gave my son a rash. Luvs were the last type of diaper I tried and I'm so sorry it took me so long to give them a shot! They're similar to Pamper's cruisers onl without the mesh lining and high price tag! This is why I LUV 'em:

1. They're thin, yet very absorbant.

2. They're really soft and have a powdery fresh scent.

3. The elastic keeps messes in, but doesn't irritate baby's legs.

4. The "bear hug stretch" is super stretchy-similar to Cruiser's.

5. Most of all, I love that they cost about 20 cents a diaper compared to the 25 cents that Pamper's cruiser's cost per diaper.

I have tried so many different diapers, trying to find the perfect combination of quality and price. We're going to be having our third baby, so cost is an issue! And I just don't have the time or commitment for cloth (sorry mother nature!!). When I came across these I just had to try them out. With the Amazon Mom program I get free 2-day shipping. And when I signed up for the auto-delivery service I get 30% off the price! Breaks down to about 16.5 cents per diaper. That's cheaper than Target brand! So here's my summary of diapers and why I'm sticking with these Luvs (price per diaper varies with size and retailer, but these are estimates):

Pampers: Awesome. Best quality for sure. But WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. About 25 cents per diaper. I have used these for my two newborns because you can't beat the Swaddlers. They are the smallest and best fitting for newborns. And I'll use them again. It's only for a few weeks anyway. But once I hit size 1 I have to switch brands.

Huggies: OK. Leak sometimes. UGLY design. Kinda stiff. Not cheap enough in price to make the poorer quality worth it. Even the huge Costco box cost more per diaper than Target brand. About 22 cents per diaper from Costco.

Target: Very good. Kinda stiff, but softer than Huggies. Almost never leak. Not as great as Pampers, but much much cheaper and good enough quality. The white trim at the edges is big and hangs out under a onesie not cute. My brand of choice until I discovered Luvs online. Roughly 19 cents per diaper after tax.

Walmart: (White Cloud) Horrible quality, leaky constantly, stiff, ugly. Just plain awful and more expensive than Target's at 20 cents per diaper. UPDATE: These have apparently been discontinued as of March 2009. And Parent's Choice is the Walmart brand now. Parent's Choice is made by the same company, but even the manufacturer admits they're of lower quality, per an article on Cafe Mom.

Luvs: Always curious to try, but Target brand was working for me and Luvs were a little more expensive. After trying so many brands, I was done experimenting. Then I discovered the Amazon Mom program which actually made them cheaper. Plus, they're shipped directly to me, which is very convenient. Since they have a money-back guarantee I gave them a shot. YAY! They're very soft, similar to Pampers. Much trimmer, so you don't have so much hanging out under the onsie as with Target brand. I'm not a huge fan of the Blue's Clues design, but it's cute and unisex and hidden by clothes most of the time anyway. They rarely leak. I currently use Pampers Overnights at night for my second baby, but he pees an outrageous amount. I used Target brand at night for my first baby with few problems. So I'm sure Luvs are fine for most babies at night time. They are more absorbent than Target, and I would say as absorbent as Pampers. Really, they're almost identical to Pampers for almost two-thirds the price.

Bottom line is these are a great buy and I highly recommend them! But as different diapers work for different sized kids, I should say that though I had one thin baby and one chubby baby, both my kids are rather narrow at the waist with little butts. So if you have a Michelin baby or one with a very wide waist, I can't say they'll work as well for you. Seems like some people have an issue with these diapers for their wider babies.

UPDATE: Amazon Mom no longer does free 2-day shipping. It's standard now and takes about a week. Still get 30% off though if you sign up for the auto delivery. I set my auto-delivery to 6 months and just have them shipped as needed, or cancel when my kids grow to the next size. Be sure to order with plenty of time for delivery though.

I am very disappointed in the price hike on the luvs diapers. They are identical to the diapers they had before, other than 18 more in the package. I can understand an increase in price since there are more diapers in the package, but its a big increase. Here are some round about figures to get an idea: These numbers are based on the size 5 pack.

The old pricing was: $35.05 before S&S and after was $24.53 and you got free 2 day prime shipping for 150 count box

The new pricing is: $42.99 before S&S and after is $30.09 and free 3-5 day shipping for a 168 count box. (you can get free 2 day if you drop one of the 15% discounts)

To sum it all up, that is an increase of 23% before S&S and 20% increase after S&S for only an 8% increase in diapers received.

I can go to the store now and buy them on sale with coupons at about the same price, if not better. I stopped looking at diaper deals in store because the deal was so good on here, but with the new pricing on the same product, I will be looking at the store ads again. I think luvs is a great product, but disappointed in the price. And no more amazon diaper codes either. Hmmmmm....

I have used Luvs for 2 years with my sons. We used to "luv" them. Now about half of the tabs are breaking off while my kids are wearing them, causing wet clothes and a big mess! Pampers Baby Dry Diapers (Packaging May Vary)

I made the huge mistake of buying the baby dry after reading through the reviews. I thought that for the price, why not try them. What a huge mistake! I should have just bought a smaller amount to try them first. Instead we have been using these for over a month now and I have had to clean up a poop spill at least every other day. My baby was 4 months old when we started using these and since she is not eating solids yet, the poop is pretty runny. The baby dry don't absorb the runny poop and it tends to just go right up the back side of the diaper onto her outfit and usually whatever or whoever she is lying on. It's just not worth the money saved! I will only buy the Swaddlers from now on. Hope this helps someone wondering which to buy Swaddlers or Baby Dry, DEFINITELY go with the SWADDLERS!!

I am a stay at home Mom with 4 children. I have been buying diapers for the past almost 11 years and Pampers Baby Dry is hands down the best diaper on the market, and believe me I have tried them all! All of my kids have been "super soakers" when it comes to pee. These diapers way out perform any other brand including major brands and department store brands. The major selling points for me are:

1. They are thin, easy to pack 5 in a diaper bag.

2. Easy to unfold with one hand (if you, like me frequently have to use the other hand to keep baby still)

3. tabs are easily opened without extra unfolding and don't rip off like several other brands.

4. Doesn't leave residue on baby or smell like pee when really soaked.

5. wider in the front to prevent baby from peeing out the side (and my kids are experts at this)

One thing that may be helpful is to remember that Pampers fit better on children that are long and skinny. If your baby is short and really chubby in the bottom, then Huggies will fit your baby better. This, I believe, explains the few complaints about Pampers not fitting or leaking.

I previously used Huggies and hated them. My daughter's pediatrician gave me a Pamper Stay Dry on one of my visits and I was hooked. They are softer, more absorbent and I've only had a few "loose-booty" clean-ups with Pampers compared with the several a week with Huggies. Also, the Pampers don't leave the tiny "crystals" on my daughters tushy like the Huggies did.

I recently ordered the Pampers Cruisers for my 11 month old and love them too. I have 2 friends who also changed from Huggies to Pampers after using a few of my diapers.
