Nuby Icy Bite Teether (Ages 3M+)

Nuby Icybite Hard/Soft Teeting KeysMy daughter actually quite likes this teether, and it seems to sooth her for a while when her gums are playing up. She's 4 1/2months old and the packaging says for 4months+, we were given this as a gift, not bough from Amazon.

I was watching her chew on it for a while, and she was really going for it, quite content and then I noticed the blood dripping form her lip. She was chewing on the ring, not the keys, where the Nuby logo is, the lettering is slightly raised, and apparently sharp, as it has cut her gum. She's now sore and crying and getting blood all over everything. Her teeth have not yet come through, so it's not from her own tooth, it really was the ring. I'm writing a stern letter to Nuby, as this is not acceptable.

This was one of my son's favorite toys. And it did a great job of relieving his teething tension. Then one day I noticed that his teeth were scratching off the white paint on the red logo at the center of the main ring. Sine then, we have retired the toy since I do not want him eating the paint. It's too bad it was not constructed better since he loved it so much.

I don't like the hard plastic logo which can be abrasive to gums. The hard plastic key bases aren't good either. The frozen gel doesn't seem to remain cooler longer than the water-based ones. At least the keys can reach the molars. It's BPA and latex free, but they use a variety of different chemical elastomers for the ring and for the sides of the key bases.

If there was an option for zero stars, that is what I would've rated this product. After letting my 6 month old use this product as intended (for teething!) for less than one hour, I noticed the white paint around the "Nuby" logo was actually chipping off!! I will not purchase Nuby products again and hope this product is recalled soon. Babys should not be eating paint!!

So I was looking at potentially buying this TEETHING RING to put in my grandchild's mouth and saw that Amazon is selling it, but with a warning that it's not for children under three years of age because it's a choking hazard...so I guess it must be intended for four-year-olds who are teething.

Seriously, Amazon?

Seventh Generation Free and Clear Baby Diapers Packaging May Vary

Seventh Generation Free and Clear Baby Diapers, Stage 3, 35 CountMost of the reviews listed here on this product are from people who are either mistakenly reviewing the "chlorine-free" not the new "free and clear" designed diapers (which have only been available starting March 2011), have only experience with traditional brands (i.e. pampers, huggies, luvs, generic rather than this brand or other "green" brands), or "vine" reviews. For those who don't know, "vine" is an amazon program that gives free products in exchange for reviews. The only purpose of the "vine" program is to promote new products and market them to the public through "personal" reviews. It is all paid for by the sponsoring company to ensure products come into the market with ample reviews posted.

As a parent, it's hard for me to spend money based on the opinions of someone who has been compensated to give their opinions on a certain product (also someone who has no experience with that category of product such as "green" diapers). Isn't everything better when it's free? I can think of many things I would've given a higher rating to if I wouldn't have had to spend so much of my money on them (think about how much happier you are with buying a less than quality product from the $1 store versus the regular store). I'm not saying "vine" reviewers are lying, but there is a skewed perception when it's not your money you're spending and I'm not willing to spend my hard earned dollars based on the opinion of someone who was compensated in any way, including with free products.

I am posting my review because I am a mother of a diapered baby, who has used this brand and other "green" brands for a long time, and I have used several packs of these new free and clear diapers. I am NOT a "vine" member, as you can see by my "Amazon verified purchase" label on my review. What follows is my HONEST opinion, unbiased, pure and simple.

______________________________________________________________________

Here are the pros & cons I found with these new "free and clear" diapers:

**I am not a fan of the increased dusty sand stuff (SAP) that provides the absorption in these. If you happen to tear a dry diaper and inhale the dust, you get a really sore throat from the stuff. I don't like that being on my baby. It absorbs more because it has more SAP gel inside and less wood pulp, this is also why it is much thinner than previous versions. SAP is controversial, you should research it to make up your own mind for your own child. Wikipedia has a good entry on how SAP is created and you can look up the chemical ingredients on EWG (cosmeticsdatabase.com) for toxicity information mainly, the controversial ingredient in SAP is sodium hydroxide (lye) which causes severe chemical burns to the skin. However, some SAP is present in almost all disposable diaper brands (but not all is made from lye).

**We have had leaks at the stomach with our baby with overnight use and blowouts can happen at the legs because the elastic doesn't have a long enough length to create a proper fit for our baby. Each baby is different and you'll need to find which diaper design fits your child best at each stage. For reference, our baby is tall and trim.

**The outside is not as soft and it looks like they are using less dye to make them brown because these are more tan in color. FYI chlorine-free diapers are white when manufactured but seventh generation dyes the diapers to make them "natural" colored (this is openly listed in fine print on every package).

**The sizing is smaller than most so you have to buy larger sizes sooner. This ends up costing you more because you get more for your money with other brands that run larger and smaller sizes come in packs of more diapers.

**There is an foul odor with these diapers. This is not a problem with other diapers, not eco-friendly or otherwise, not sure why these ones smell but they do in comparison.

**I'm not sure what the other reviewer is referring to with the sticky tabs, there is no sticky part on these diapers it is like a type of velcro but not sticky like most other diapers. It works good for fastening, just the same (doesn't stick to skin).

**I wish there was a size printed boldly on the diaper so I could easily sort out the diapers when my baby changes sizes and we have leftovers to give away.

Overall, I liked the previous version of these diapers best. For someone who is using a chemical doused traditional brand, I'm sure these are a step up. But for the rest of us who were already using this brand, this is a step down. More chemicals is not the way to go to be "eco-friendly" if I cannot find the regular "chlorine-free" type and only the "free and clear" type are available for sale, we will use another brand.

I hope my truthful review helps you decide if these are right for your baby!

Edit (5/5/11): I have found another diaper I would recommend. Amazon sells 'Nurtured by Nature Environmentally-Sensitive Diapers' which work much better, cost much less (20 cents each), and is more eco-friendly (made mostly from corn plastic, not petroleum and has totally chlorine free certified pulp).

We have been ordering Seventh generation diapers in every size since our twins were born. I have to say that they have always been fabulous. Most recently I went to get my shipment of size 6 on subscribe and save delivered to discover there was a newer version, the free and clear ones. I placed that order with no hesitation. I have to say they are a HUGE disappointment! They leak, badly. There is not as much absorbency with these at all and I am really bummed. I hope this is corrected. Honestly I am tempted to send them back they are so bad.

My girl was allergic to many other brand of diapers since she was one month old, we've tried pampers, huggies and many others. This is the only brand that won't give her any allergy reaction. She never have leak problem with this diaper too, really like it.

These diapers have worked great for my 19 month old who has very sensitive skin. Other diapers like Huggies, Pampers, Pampers Sensitive Skin and Luvs have not done well for her, but these have never irritated her skin. Even the wipes are great.

these are thin and have great absorbency at the same time; several times we had problems with the diaper keeping pup during night and it could be because we didn't properly fixed it.we may use other type for the night, however these remain our favorites. we also found that the sticking ends on the sides could be improved.

Prevail SLP Sleepover Diaper

SleepOvers® Youth Pants, Small/Medium, Case of 60These were perfectly fine until my latest purchase when they were noticeably thinner; now they do not absorb fluid as well. I'm going to have to look for a different product for my child.

I bought this from a store and not Amazon but thought I would put in a review. My son is 4 years old and is not potty trained for overnights yet. He always wakes up soaked and tends to leak at times from drinking too much fluid before he falls asleep. I found this in a grocery store out-of-town and thought I would give it a try. I didn't think it would work very well since it looks pretty generic but not only was it absorbent the first night we used it, it has also helped him go potty in the middle of the night because I told him they were diaper underwear (that's how a well-known brand describes theirs). These do look like pullups and not underwear. I liked it so much I bought 3 packages for home. I'm giving it a 4 star only because of the appearance.

I found that these didn't fit very well, and we had some leaks several nights. I will be looking for a different item in the future.

We switched from Huggies Goodnights to these after several leaks. No leaks with these, and they're comfortable and soft. We've been using them for six months now and my daughter always wakes up with dry sheets. I wish I'd found these sooner...they're a lot cheaper than Huggies brand, and in my opinion, better quality.

Diaper Dude Convertible Messenger/Backpack Diaper Bag

Diaper Dude Convertible Messenger/Backpack in OliveWe bought this bag after our overstuffed Carter's bag wouldn't stay closed anymore. It had a magnetic clip and just wouldn't stay closed. This thing rocks. It's got tons of space. You can use it messenger style, backpack, or even like a brief case which works great since I like to wear it on my back and the hubby likes to wear it messenger style. I love that you can clip it to a shopping cart when going out and not have it take up space. Also it has the cutest little check list of what you need in your diaper bag sewn in it. The color inside is super pretty. It's for dudes, but I feel fine with it too. It's super unisex. We have zero complaints and would totally buy it again. It's expensive but well worth it.

We bought the Diaper Dude for our son in law because he didn't want to carry our daughter's diaper bag. He loves it. He likes all the pockets and storage areas. One pocket is for his stuff and the rest for the baby.

Just gave this to my husband this morning, for Father's Day. He loves it and can't wait to use it. Good quality product. He noticed the "don't forget list" inside the back pack...very cute touch!

I am a stay at home dad and wanted a diaper bag that wasn't covered in flowers or feminine. I also didn't want to use a regular backpack. This is a perfect fit! Very durable, very useful. Highly recommended.

Nuby Booster Seat

Nuby Booster SeatI am very pleased with this product. My daughter loves to use it as her own chair in the living room so it is mostly used as furniture rather than a booster seat at the table. It does fit nicely on to every chair we've tried. It's very easy to clean, too. It comes with study restraints that are easily added. We keep the restraints off when it sits in the living room.

Pewter Childs Christening Celtic Cup

Pewter Childs Christening Celtic CupThis was a well made beautiful cup. It was delivered earlier than expected which was perfect as we could deliver in person at the christening versus mailing it afterword. It seemed smaller than I thought and may be hard to have engraved because of the curve. The parents of the child loved it.

Kirkland Signature Supreme Baby Diapers (Size 3, Quantity 208)

Kirkland Signature Supreme Baby DiapersI didn't have a problem with these diapers leaking but the moisture in the diaper would seep out through the outer cover. So my baby's pants would be damp even though the diaper wasn't full. They are inexpensive but it is unpleasant to hold a baby with dewey pants.

I had really high hopes for these diapers. They are such a great deal when you buy them directly from Costco (especially when there's a coupon!). However, they just don't measure up to the name brands. These diapers hold noticeably less than Pampers (at least the Cruisers and the Swaddlers). They are ok if you change them a lot, but that negates the cost benefit.

I wanted to love them so much. But I won't be buying them again.

Review:

These diapers are the best quality available. I don't just buy these because they are inexpensive the quality is in my opinion the best. I would pay more for them if they were more expensive.

I tried these diapers after reading many great reviews on other sites. I would compare them to Huggies. They feel and look very much like Huggies. I love these diapers. They don't leak, they stay put and they fit well. They are very reasonably priced. I recently switched my daughter to Pampers and could not believe how many leaks we had. She was constantly soaking right through them. We went back to the Kirkland. I normally buy them at Costco, but just started purchasing from Amazon as well. Try them and see. Love them!

I have had wonderful experiences with these diapers with my two children, a boy and a girl...both kids are slim. I have never had a leak (minus a couple explosions).

If a diaper leaks, I have no use for it. Kirkland, Pampers and Huggies have all been terrific in that aspect. I only shop these three brands for diapers...whichever is least expensive per diaper, I go with. I have found diapers dot com to be a great place to comparison shop.
