Luvs With Ultra Leakguards Diapers

Luvs With Ultra Leakguards Size 4 Diapers 160 CountHere is my completely honest review. Luvs are decent diapers. Both my kids went similar routes with diapers. I'd start with the cheapest diapers i could find, but once they started rolling/crawling I would upgrade to luvs. No, they didn't stop every leak, but they were cheap.. and there were a lot of them. I could easily get away with spending ONLY 10-15 bucks a month on diapers with Amazon Mom and S&S.

Unfortunately the amount of diapers in the box has gone down TWICE in the last 2 years. For example my size 3 used to be 234 count.... Then it dropped to 204 count... Now its 186 count.

Am I missing something? Are babies pooping less?

The price for the boxes have remained steady the last couple years. Most of my deliveries have been around 25 bucks. So before you jump and buy these, Double check amazon.. As of this posting, you can get the 204 count size 3 for 11 cents LESS than this box.

Luvs has been my diaper of choice for the past 20 months. I LOVED the quality and the price was very affordable. The fail/leak rate was very low even through the night. It held/contained a LOT of waste and didn't irritate my DD. Then they dropped the count per box last year but I didn't mind since the quality remained the same.

However around late June'13 I started experiencing more leaks and explosions than normal when I started a new box. So I pulled out a old Size 4 diaper and compared it to the new size 4 and it was almost HALF as thick as the old. I've since gone through 2 cases with the same results so it's wasn't a batch issue. Then to add insult to injury, I noticed that in Sept'13 that the Quantity is dropping *AGAIN*. Size 4 is now going from 180/case to 160/case.

The new price hike brings Luvs into competition with other premium brands, will explore other options for better performance.

I had given a glowing review in the prior version of Luvs and disappointed to leave this review.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Okay, we love Luvs. Fine, I said it.

With our first child we ran through several brands of diapers, and with frustration over either price, aroma, fit, 'accidents' (leaking out the sides, etc.) and so on, we finally ended up with Luvs, which turned out to be a winner on all fronts.

Now with our second child it's nice to see Luvs is still out there, with the same quality and affordability as before. We have no complaints at all about the big box of Size 3s we got for our 7-month-old.

Locally there was an article in the newspaper about disposable diapers which elicited several angry letters about how we should be using reusable cloth diapers and those who use disposables are ruining the environment, etc. So I just want to mention here: after some research on this subject when our 1st child was a baby, as well as emails to a couple of environmental groups, I learned that if you live in an area where water is at all a concern (where you go through drought conditions, which is quite often in the southwest, Texas and elsewhere), you are being more environmentally responsible by using disposables, due to the large amount of water and energy consumed by the hot-water washing cloth diaper services use. In more lush sub-ecosystem, it's kind of a toss-up as to which has a larger environmental footprint, with a slight advantage to cloth diapers. From what I understand, anyway. Sleep-deprived research isn't the best, but it's something.

Anyway. Thank you Luvs!

When my daughter was born we used the more expensive brands, but around the time she needed size 3 diapers I switched to using Luvs and haven't gone back. They seem to be a little bit more fragrant than the others but my daughter has never had a reaction. The over powerful smell was the reason I didn't use them when she was newborn. She has had a reaction to Huggies Snug and Dry before. Now my daughter wears a size 5. The diapers work great; no leaks during the day or at nap time. She does leak through if we use them at night so we use the Huggies Overnights and have never had an issue. The Overnights are twice as expensive so I attempted to use the next size up Luvs at night to see if that prevented the leaking at night. It didn't, so we are back to using Luvs during the day and the Overnights at night. To note-the last box of Luvs I bought had gone up by a penny per diaper. I do like the new design.

We just picked up a pack of these newly designed Luvs in size 5 to try out, and so far they have been great! I'm actually pretty surprised given th last time I tried Luvs I was moderately dissatisfied because they leaked. We normally use Pampers Cruisers or Baby Dry when we are using disposable, though I have pretty much tried all kinds out there, including generic brands and cloth, which we love to use as well! These diapers fit a tiny bit more snugly it seems than the Cruisers or Baby Dry, however they are built almost identically. I wouldn't say they run a whole size smaller, but they definitely do not seem to fit exactly the same as the Cruisers that we use regularly. The padding on these seems to be more dense than it was the last time we bought Luvs. So far it has translated to dry sheets at night, so I'm very happy about that. These have a pretty strong scent to them, though it seems to have lessened since we opened them. For those of you used to Pampers diapers, it is about as strong as the Cruisers, but it is a different scent. It is sort of baby powdery smelling. It seems to keep the diapers from stinking in the trash, and it doesn't give our guy a rash, so I'm okay with it, but those of you with sensitive babies might want to buy a small pack to try it out first. Still has the green and purple design, though new pictures, as well as the blue, padded core. Another thing that stands out to me, and I'm not quite sure why, but they are a bit more crinkly than other disposable diapers we've tried. I can hear my son crawling around in them, which is a bit comical at times to hear him crinkling across the floor. Overall, these diapers seem pretty good. I'd buy them again!
